Coastal Cottages

In March 2009, residents living in the approximately 3000 Mississippi Cottages in the Mississippi Gulf Coast must be vacated. This creates an enormous crisis for those who have no other affordable housing option. That's why HFH Bay-Waveland has partnered with many other organizations to create the Coastal Cottage. This innovative house is made from a Mississippi Cottage that has been removed from its temporary frame and set on a permanent foundation. A modular addition has been added, bringing the living space to approximately 925 square feet. These photos document the process of creating the first two models in Diamondhead, Mississippi.
